Collecting in Today’s Turbulent World – A Dialogue Between East and West

In conjunction with the opening of the new Fairmont hotel in Beijing, the British-established Institute of Strategic Dialogue hosts its annual Arts in Global Society conference titled ‘Collecting in Today’s Turbulent World – A Dialogue between East and West’. The private forum includes a star-selection of twenty-five invited international art professionals, curators and authorities from the US, Europe, Russia and China to discuss and exchange ideas on the topic of global art collecting. “The focus of the conference will be on contemporary art. Its wide-ranging agenda will cover the market for contemporary Chinese art, public and private collecting, the impact of the economic crisis on international art markets, China’s museums and their engagement with foreign art institutions as well as wider efforts to promote cultural exchange.”

An exhibition of artworks will open to the public the following day, Sunday, October 11 at the Central Academy of Fine Art Museum. The exhibition, titled 碰撞——关于中国当代艺术实验的案例 Collision-Experimental Cases of Contemporary Chinese Art is curated by 俞可 Yu Ke, with the assistance of listed art consultants Melissa Chiu and 王璜生Wang Huangsheng. The academic committee includes: 冯博一、高千惠、彭德、皮道坚、殷双喜、杨小彦、赵力、朱青生、郑胜天 Feng Boyi\Gao Qianhui\Peng De\Pi Daojian\Yin Shuangxi\Yang Xiaoyan\Zhao Li\Zhu Qingsheng\Zheng Shengtian.
