Iona Whittaker graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2008 with a first class degree in History of Art. Her final year dissertation discussed the theoretical problems relating to the emergence of contemporary Chinese art. She has worked with the Bridgeman Art Library in London and New York, and has written articles about the art scene in China for London-based Artquest, as well as a travel guide on Beijing’s art and architecture for Globalista. Since February 2009 Iona has been working with Karen Smith at the Intelligent Alternative in Beijing.
