“事物状态——中比当代艺术交流展”由中国美术馆馆长范迪安、比利时著名艺术家吕克·杜曼斯以及中国著名艺术家艾未未共同策划。展览的主要宗旨为在中国与 比利时之间的开展一次艺术的探讨,这种探讨将围绕如何避免当代艺术陷入异国风情式的或纯粹猎奇的模式,而是聚焦于当代视觉艺术作为当代文化产物的学术价 值。展览主题的对话首先在两个不同文化国度中的重要艺术家与策展人之间展开,选择中比双方在艺术观念和方法论上有成果的艺术家,体现出中比艺术在创作上的 相同性与差异性,这种展览策划的方式和视角在展览策划史上是相当独特的。“事物状态”展览在2009年10月于欧罗巴利亚艺术节的框架下在比利时布鲁塞尔 皇家美术宫展出后,将于2010年5月1日——2010年6月1日巡回至中国美术馆展出。这是展览的学术性延续,更体现出中比两个在学术和文化交流上的友 好和进步。 “事物状态——中比当代艺术交流展”是一次大型和全面的关于中国和比利时当代艺术的交流活动,更是一次具有学术先锋性的当代艺术展览,展览选择中国艺术家 25位,比利时艺术家各24位,参展作品约120件,是一次规模较大的从策划到实施都有特色的文化交流项目。"
